“Gamecock Fans Rejoice: Four-Star Recruit Slams the Door on All Other Offers!”

Andrew Harris Locks In Commitment to South Carolina: “Recruitment Is Shut Down”

South Carolina football received a major boost Friday night when four-star commit Andrew Harris officially shut down his recruitment. The standout from Weddington High School in North Carolina confirmed on social media that his decision is final—he’s all in with the Gamecocks.

Harris initially committed to South Carolina last month alongside his twin brother, Aiden Harris, who also recently affirmed his recruitment is completely over.

While Rivals ranks Andrew as an EDGE prospect, he’ll line up as an off-ball linebacker in defensive coordinator Clayton White’s system. Harris has experience across the front seven during his high school career, but USC envisions him anchoring the linebacker unit.

His decision to fully commit doesn’t come as a surprise. In June, Harris told GamecockCentral that the people within the program ultimately swayed his choice. “What made me actually make my commitment was the players I’ve been around,” Harris explained. “[It was] the people who I’m going to be around with on a daily basis, so that was really just something I took into consideration.”

Physically, Harris already resembles a college-ready linebacker at 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds. As he develops and transitions into his new role, his athleticism and instincts should serve him well.

Despite his background as a pass rusher, Harris has displayed excellent mobility and closing speed, particularly against outside run plays—traits that will be key in his linebacker duties. Given South Carolina’s defensive tendency to dial up pressure from the second level, Harris’ pass-rushing pedigree will likely be put to use in blitz packages.

He joins Keenan Britt of Alabama as one of two linebacker commits in the Gamecocks’ 2026 recruiting class. Like Harris, Britt is also converting from EDGE to linebacker, adding depth and versatility to a promising future linebacker corps at South Carolina.
