Dawn Staley Turns Heads on CBS Mornings in Dior as She Promotes Uncommon Favor
South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley made a stylish statement on Thursday during her appearance on CBS Mornings, wearing a $4,078 Dior ensemble (per the brand’s website). The 55-year-old coach joined Gayle King, Nathaniel E. Burleson, and Adriana Diaz to promote her memoir, “Uncommon Favor.”
Staley later shared photos from the interview on her X (formerly Twitter) account, tagging Oprah Winfrey in hopes of catching the attention of her famous book club. She captioned the post:

“Thank you @CBSMornings @GayleKing @nateburleson @adrianadiaz for reading UNCOMMON FAVOR—your questions were in depth & truly brought life to the interview! By the way, @Oprah it is a quick great read your book club would enjoy. If you haven’t gotten your copy yet it’s ready!🥰”
Building on a Championship Legacy
Staley began her collegiate coaching career at Temple in 2000 before taking over at South Carolina in 2008. Since arriving in Columbia, she has guided the Gamecocks to three NCAA national championships and turned the program into one of the most dominant in women’s basketball.

Last season, South Carolina reached the NCAA finals after defeating Texas 74-57 in the Final Four. However, their bid for a fourth title fell short when they were defeated by Geno Auriemma’s UConn Huskies.
Looking ahead, Staley has reloaded her roster for the upcoming campaign. The Gamecocks have secured commitments from five-star small forward Agot Makeer and four-star small forward Ayla McDowell from the Class of 2025.
Recruiting, Transfers, and International Stops
On Wednesday, Staley posted an Instagram selfie with Makeer during a quick trip to Toronto for an event hosted by Tennis Canada. She wrote:

“Quick trip to Toronto! @tenniscanada thank you for the invite to your moving event. Appreciate your approach to growing women’s sports. And a surprised guest was our very own @gamecockwbb baby @agotmakeer! Good to see you on Canadian soil!”
Not all recruiting news went in South Carolina’s favor this week. Saniyah Hall, the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2026 (per On3’s Industry Rankings), announced her commitment to USC Trojans after recently being seen dancing with Staley in an Instagram story.

With Hall off the board, Staley remains focused on other elite targets, including Oliviyah Edwards (No. 1 power forward) and Amari Byles (No. 2 small forward).
In addition to high school commitments, South Carolina has been active in the transfer portal, adding Ta’Niya Latson from Florida State and Madina Okot from Mississippi State to bolster the lineup.
