“Shane Beamer Fires Back at Netflix Critics Who Dared Trash His Wife’s Cookies”

Shane Beamer has embraced most of the praise South Carolina received after their appearances on Netflix’s SEC: Any Given Saturday — but there was one bit of public criticism that didn’t sit well with him.

That critique wasn’t about football, recruiting, or even coaching decisions. It was aimed at his wife, Emily … and her cookies.

In one of the series’ more emotional moments, Emily Beamer spoke candidly about the highs and lows of life as a coach’s spouse, revealing how much wins and losses impact not just the head coach, but the entire family.

“I do not really leave the house after a loss,” Emily admitted. “I feel like the town is mad at me and I just don’t want to have to go out and hear what people say.”

As she spoke, Emily was shown baking cookies — a tradition she’s kept alive for years. Every Thursday, she bakes a batch for everyone in the Gamecocks’ football office, a gesture she also extended to players during Shane’s coaching stops at Oklahoma, Georgia, and Virginia Tech.

And according to Shane, they’re a massive hit.

“The cookies are the freaking bomb,” Beamer said with a smile on Tuesday.

But when the episode aired, some online critics took aim at her baking, claiming she wasn’t cooking the cookies long enough. Shane wasn’t having it.

“Whether they’re cooked five minutes or 50, I don’t care — they’re dang delicious,” he said. “And when they get set out every Thursday, they’re gone in about five minutes.”

Beamer even issued a playful challenge to the doubters:

“To the people who reached out to her on Instagram to criticize her … come up here on a Thursday after practice when I put those cookies out and see how fast they’re devoured.”

Shane finished with a line that left no doubt where he stands:

“I’ve got my girl’s back.”
