Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson have both reportedly ‘agreed terms’ with Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad.
Manchester City are unperturbed by reports suggesting Kevin De Bruyne has reached an agreement with Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, while they are resolute regarding their valuation of goalkeeper Ederson.
Currently in the USA for their pre-season tour, City woke up on Sunday to news that their star midfielder De Bruyne has supposedly agreed terms with the Saudi club.
Earlier this summer, De Bruyne mentioned twice that he would consider a lucrative offer from a Saudi club, acknowledging it could significantly impact his family’s life. However, at the beginning of the month, he reaffirmed his commitment to returning to City for the new season and denied any contact from other clubs regarding a transfer.
City remain calm about the latest reports, not expecting Al Ittihad to make a move for De Bruyne or for him to depart, especially considering his recent statements. The Belgian star is scheduled to return to the City Football Academy on August 5 after an extended break before the new season begins.
Al Ittihad have also recently signed midfielder Houssem Aouar from Roma, filling their quota of foreign players to six out of a maximum of eight. This, combined with their interest in other central players, makes a move for De Bruyne less likely. With a year left on his contract, De Bruyne could potentially leave next summer on a free transfer, marking ten years since he joined City.
Meanwhile, there have been discussions between City and Al Ittihad regarding Ederson, but City is steadfast on their valuation of the Brazilian goalkeeper. Al Nassr recently had a £25m bid for Ederson rejected before they shifted their focus to Roma goalkeeper Bento.
Now, it appears Al Ittihad is interested in Ederson, but City will demand significantly more than Al Nassr’s offer. Should Al Ittihad meet this valuation, City would then look to sign a replacement goalkeeper, with Stefan Ortega likely stepping up as the number one choice.
It remains uncertain whether Al Ittihad will solidify their interest with a bid that meets City’s valuation of the 30-year-old, who still has two years left on his contract.
