Phil Foden’s mother, known for her love of lively celebrations, has stirred controversy among her Prestbury neighbors. Claire Rowlands hosted what residents described as a “deafening two-hour fireworks show” on Wednesday night, prompting comparisons to grand displays at Sydney Harbour Bridge or Disneyland.
The pyrotechnics began at 6 p.m. and continued until 8:30 p.m., leaving many residents scrambling to calm frightened pets and children. “It must have cost thousands,” one nearby resident remarked. “They wouldn’t have looked out of place at the New Year’s Eve celebrations at Sydney Harbour Bridge or at Disneyland! Most neighbors, however, were more concerned about their pets.”
Ms. Rowlands, 45, resides in a £3.5 million mansion in Cheshire purchased by her son, the Manchester City midfielder. Neighbors shared their frustration over the lack of notice, with one saying, “There was no prior warning, causing immense distress to residents’ dogs and babies. In response, some locals wrote an open letter, expressing concern about the frequent disturbances from the Fodens’ property.”
This isn’t the first time the family’s gatherings have made headlines. In July, neighbors complained about Phil Foden himself, calling him “selfish” after he allegedly hosted a late-night party with loud music and barking from his Doberman. “People don’t mind them enjoying themselves, but this is ridiculous. It’s beginning to be known as a party house,” a local resident commented.
Claire Rowlands has previously made news for her behavior at public events. In September last year, she was arrested for being drunk and disorderly outside a nightclub in Wales. Body-cam footage captured her being verbally abusive toward officers and telling them to “f* off” before being placed in handcuffs. Later, she admitted, “I kicked off with the police officers. I was like an animal. I don’t drink often, but when I do, I make up for time**.” She received a fine of *£100* along with additional costs.
The fireworks event is believed to have been postponed by a day, allowing her son, Phil Foden, to join after Manchester City’s game against Sporting Lisbon. It remains unclear if Phil, his partner Rebecca Cooke, and their three children attended the celebration.
