Arch Manning Era Set to Begin at Texas as He Prepares to Take Over in 2025
Since arriving in Austin in 2023, Arch Manning has been one of the most talked-about names in college football. Whether it’s because of his impressive talent or his legendary family lineage—being the nephew of Peyton Manning and Eli Manning—his every move has been under the microscope.
As the top-ranked prospect in the 2023 recruiting class (per 247Sports), Manning had his pick of powerhouse programs. His final decision came down to Texas, Georgia, and Alabama, but ultimately, he chose to suit up for the Longhorns.
Now, with Quinn Ewers declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, the stage is set for Arch Manning to step in as Texas’ starting quarterback next season. The hype surrounding him has only intensified, making him one of the most highly anticipated starters in recent memory.
Manning on His Popularity and College Experience
In a recent interview posted on TikTok, Arch Manning opened up about some of the challenges he faces on campus due to his fame. He was asked whether life at a smaller school might be easier, and he admitted that his popularity even impacted his ability to visit Alabama.
“My buddies who go to Alabama, they want me to come visit,” Manning said. “I don’t know if that’s the best idea. Tuscaloosa. But Austin is nice. You can go to parts of it where you can kind of get away, and nobody knows about football. You’re just another guy.”
Despite the attention, Manning has remained focused on his journey at Texas, crediting head coach Steve Sarkisian for playing a major role in his decision.
Why Arch Manning Chose Texas
Reflecting on his recruiting process, Manning previously shared how much he connected with Sarkisian, who ultimately helped seal the deal for Texas.
“I can relate to [Sarkisian] because he’s younger,” Manning told 247Sports in 2021. “It seems like we’re friends almost. I like him a lot. He’d be a cool guy to get to play for. Hopefully, he doesn’t get too many job offers and stays there. He’s a good guy. I really like everyone I’ve met and have enjoyed building relationships and meeting different guys.”
A Blockbuster Debut Awaits
The Arch Manning era will officially kick off on Saturday, August 30, when Texas takes on Ohio State in a highly anticipated Cotton Bowl rematch. With Manning under center, expectations are sky-high, and all eyes will be on Austin as the Longhorns begin this exciting new chapter.
