Gamecocks Fall in Latest Rankings: South Carolina WBB Standings Take a Hit!

Gamecocks Drop in AP Rankings After UConn Loss, Still Contending for SEC Title

After a tough 87-58 loss to UConn, the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team has taken a hit in the rankings, slipping two spots to No. 6 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. This marks their lowest ranking of the season and comes after their 71-game home winning streak was snapped by the Huskies on February 17, 2025.

Despite the setback, South Carolina still boasts an impressive 23-3 overall record and remains a force in the SEC with an 11-1 conference record. They are currently tied with Texas at the top of the standings, and if both teams continue their winning ways, they’ll share the SEC regular-season title, with the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament to be determined by a coin flip.

Where South Carolina Stands Nationally

The updated AP Top 25 rankings now see Notre Dame, Texas, UCLA, Southern Cal, and UConn ahead of the Gamecocks, while LSU closely follows at No. 7. This elite group has seemingly pulled away from the rest of the pack, but with two weeks left in the regular season, there’s still room for movement.

Key Matchups This Week

The Gamecocks are set for a crucial stretch in SEC play, with two important games on the schedule:
