In his 20 league appearances during his final campaign with the Gunners, Trossard only registered one goal, but his ten assists were seen as crucial in keeping the competition alive, putting him just one assist behind Saka with 25 fewer 90-minute games.
Trossard outperformed Saka in passing accuracy over the course of the previous season and produced more goal actions per 90 minutes (0.87 to 0.079) than Saka.
Compared to Trossard from last year, Saka has actually played nearly 2,000 more minutes. However, with the 5-0 goal the Belgian international scored against Estonia on September 13, 2023, Trossard has established himself as a serious contender to replace the 22-year-old star if he must miss a significant amount of time.
Trossard has yet to score a league goal for Arsenal this year, but if Saka misses the upcoming game against Everton on September 17, 2023, he might be signed for his 11th start with the club.
Arsenal may need to look for a new star player this season.
