Champions League draw: Man City handed last-16 tie against Copenhagen

Holdings In the Champions League round of sixteen, Manchester City will play FC Copenhagen.

The Portuguese team Porto will play Arsenal, the league leaders at the moment, in the opening round of elimination.

 

Following the draw on Monday at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, the ties were confirmed. The first legs of the tie will take place over a two-week period in February 2024.

 

In the opening games of the previous season, City faced Copenhagen, who emerged from a group that also included Manchester United. They won 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium and drew 0-0 in Denmark.

 

This time, Pep Guardiola’s team qualified with a perfect record in Group G for the Club World Cup, which is currently taking place in Saudi Arabia.

After a six-season break, Arsenal returned to the competition and won Group B with convincing ease.

 

Porto, their rivals, finished Group H as Barcelona’s runners-up.

 

Champions of Spain Barca, on the other hand, were given a difficult assignment against Serie A winners Napoli.

 

The other matches pitted Real Madrid, the record 14-time champion, against RB Leipzig, while Atletico, their city rival, was drawn against Inter Milan.

 

Paris St. Germain will take on Real Sociedad, the fourth Spanish team in the draw, while Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, two German teams, will play Lazio and PSV, respectively.

As group winners, City and Arsenal will travel for the first two legs of their matchups.

The return matches will take place on March 5, 6, 12, or 13 after the first legs take place on February 13, 14, 20, or 21.
