Deal reached; latest Arsenal transfer ‘completed’ as Mikel Arteta’sanctions’ another departure.

Before the deadline on Friday, Arsenal has reached an agreement for one departure and may do so for another.

According to reports, Nuno Tavares will be loaned out by Arsenal to Nottingham Forest for the entirety of the 2023–24 season.

The 23-year-old signed a long-term contract with Arsenal in 2021, leaving Benfica, for an alleged transfer fee of £8 million. He scored six goals in 39 defense-related appearances while on loan with Marseille in Ligue 1 last season.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a loan fee above £1 million has been agreed upon between the clubs, and the agreement includes a £12 million buyout option. Tuesday was designated for a medical.

Tavares has only made 28 appearances for the Gunners since leaving Benfica. However, Arteta would not allow for the possibility of the player permanently leaving the club. He wanted his loan to Marseille to include a buy option.

After losing 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on the opening weekend before defeating newly promoted Sheffield United 2-1 on August 18, Forest has only won one of their first three Premier League games.

They have had a difficult start to the season with trips to Arsenal and most recently Manchester United, where they lost 3-2 in contentious circumstances after taking a 2-0 lead because they had a man sent off and then they gave up a penalty.

As a result of Arteta’s agreement to allow the player to leave the Gunners this transfer window, Luton Town have emerged as contenders for Arsenal defender Rob Holding.

According to a report in the Evening Standard, the Hatters want to sign Holding on a temporary basis. He has not been included in the Arsenal roster for any of their three league games so far this season.

It has also been reported that Wolves and Crystal Palace are interested. Albert Sambi Lokonga, Cedric Soares, and Nicolas Pepe are all free to leave Arsenal this transfer window, so a number of departures may occur before Friday at 11 p.m.
