To prepare for Partey’s injury, Arsenal calls up two young players.
In preparation for their match against Manchester United on Sunday, Arsenal called up two members of their U-21 squad to train with the first team.
Following Thomas Partey’s injury ahead of this weekend’s match against the Red Devils, Mikel Arteta had called up young players Ethan Nwaneri and Reuell Walters to train with the first team.
While Nwaneri made his Premier League debut in September 2022 against Brentford, coming off the bench in the final seconds of the second half, both players are members of Arsenal’s U-21 team that competes in Premier League 2.
At the time, he was only 15 years old, making him the youngest player to ever play in the Premier League.
Despite being over two years older than Nwaneri, Walters plays right back for the U-21 team but has yet to make an appearance for the first team.
The 18-year-old has made a few appearances in the matchday squad, but in his brief professional career, he has never served as more than an unused substitute.
Although there is a lot of hype surrounding the youngster, Nwaneri is more of an attacking player who can also play in the center of the field.
He has always played in age groups above him, from the academy to the first team.
The 16-year-old spent part of last season with the U-18s and part with the U-21s, but this summer he agreed to professional terms to be signed in March 2024, when he turns 17.
In this photo, Nwaneri is seen practicing with Emile Smith Rowe.
Although Thomas Partey’s absence has increased the likelihood that either of these young players will be chosen for Sunday’s matchday squad, it is still unclear.
The right-back position could be covered by Walters, or Nwaneri could come on as a substitute to inject some energy into the midfield.
In any case, the fans will be thrilled if these players get the chance to play on Sunday because they have created a lot of excitement among the Arsenal fanbase.

Catastrophe hits as “fantastic” Arsenal player miss the match against Manchester United.
On Sunday, Manchester United will play an Arsenal team that will be missing Thomas Partey, a Ghanaian midfield general.
Obviously, who leaves the Emirates tomorrow with the Premier League points will depend on the battle in the middle of the field.
The midfield has been Manchester United’s biggest weakness all season, but against Nottingham Forest last week, it appeared to be recovering.
Erik ten Hag will regret the continued injury to Mason Mount and would have hoped to have Sofyan Amrabat, his new midfield acquisition, available for the match.
But now that a key player for them is gone, Arsenal will be forced to take on one of their biggest rivals.
Thomas Partey was hurt for United’s trip to the Emirates,
Given that the Spanish manager thinks Partey is “fantastic,” Mikel Arteta will now be without one of his most crucial midfielders for a crucial match.
Partey’s injury was revealed in a statement from the Ghanaian national team.
He suffered a groin injury on August 31, 2023, while practicing, it stated. He is currently unavailable because Club Doctors expect him to be out for a few weeks.”.
Arteta will suffer a severe setback as he scrambles to find a replacement for the midfielder.
How will the midfield for United appear?
United’s midfield essentially chooses itself due to injuries or ineligibility for the match.
Rasmus Hojlund should play up front, with Bruno Fernandes playing in his customary number 10 position behind.
Additionally, Casemiro selects himself as the club’s sole available defensive midfielder who is both qualified and healthy.
The starting spot against an Arsenal team without Partey is up for grabs between Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay.
Given that Eriksen does not suit playing deeper or as an eight against teams that will expect possession in this situation, we believe the Scottish international is a better fit to play.
