When David Raya beat Aaron Ramsdale to the Arsenal spot in the pregame warmup, it said everything.
Aaron Ramsdale was ruthlessly benched by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for the team’s trip to Everton, and David Raya, a recent acquisition, was given the start at Goodison Park.
Despite being brutally benched in favor of David Raya, Aaron Ramsdale was in a good mood prior to Arsenal’s match against Everton.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta decided to downgrade his No. 1 goalkeeper for Sunday’s away game in place of recent addition Raya, who joined on loan from Brentford during the summer transfer window.
Ramsdale had kept his spot for the first four games of the new Premier League season, but Arteta gave the gloves to his new addition when Arsenal traveled to Merseyside.
While Raya and Ramsdale were warming up, Ramsdale didn’t let his guard down and was seen grinning and hugging Raya. The 25-year-old, who made his England debut in their 3-1 victory over Scotland on Tuesday, was forced to sit on the bench against Spain’s Raya at Goodison Park after Arteta explained the decision.
The Arsenal manager told Sky Sports, “I think I mentioned that we wanted a bigger and better squad with two players with quality in this position, we have a lot of games coming up now over the next month.”.
“There will be more chances to play in the future, and we want to use the players we have right now. We made an effort to start the game with the best teams possible, and we then have teams that can win games.
We think that balancing the team out in this way is the best option.”.
When Arteta was questioned about how his goalkeeper reacted to Raya’s arrival last month, he made earlier remarks that were supported by Ramsdale’s response.
The Gunners’ head coach said, “Very positive.
“From what I can tell, they train well. I witnessed a recent training session, and it was excellent.
Comment below with your opinion on whether Aaron Ramsdale deserved to be fired.
Although I believe that their initial connection is excellent, I am not surprised by this.
I anticipate players to act in this way.
When I brought Declan Rice, I anticipated the same thing.
The team wants to improve, so I hope they have a really, really positive response.
I’ll be concerned if the team doesn’t respond in that way and doesn’t want to get better.
If so, we have not succeeded in fostering the kind of atmosphere we desire at this club.”.
Ramsdale, who in May signed a new long-term contract, will now have to work hard to reclaim his spot, and he may get the chance on Wednesday when Arsenal play PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.
Since arriving at the Emirates in August 2021, the former Bournemouth and Sheffield United goalkeeper has made 83 appearances.
