Ramsdale being replaced by Raya has generated a lot of buzz, but Arteta wants to minimize it.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, claims that his decision to substitute David Raya for Aaron Ramsdale in the Everton match was “nothing new.”.
Many were shocked by the manager’s decision to bench Ramsdale in favor of Raya, an acquisition from the summer, who made his debut with a clean sheet as Arsenal earned a squeaker of a victory.
After the game, Arteta acknowledged that he had previously regretted not substituting his goalkeeper during games.
He also said he would no longer be averse to doing so if he thought it would be in the team’s best interest.
Ramsdale has been accused of “disrespect” in response to Arteta’s decision, and it has been suggested that the England international may try to leave Arsenal.
However, 90min understands that this is not the case, and Ramsdale is willing to fight for his future despite rivals Chelsea keeping tabs on the situation.
When asked if he was surprised by the reaction to his choice, Arteta responded, “No, because I respect opinions, I understand the questions, and I understand historically what happened.
“For me, nothing has changed.
We’ve been doing it for quite some time.
We brought Aaron with us when Bernd [Leno] was here, and I don’t notice any differences.
It’s part of my job.
I’m required to provide the best and most truthful responses I can. I have to act on my feelings as a manager.
In my opinion, what is best for the group and the club is never what is best for Mikel, that much is certain.”.
Richard Ramsdale.
Arteta declined to answer two more inquiries about Ramsdale, indicating a desire to conclude the conversation.
When asked about Ramsdale’s reaction to the news, Arteta responded, “Honestly, I don’t want to talk about the response of every single player in the squad, whether they play or not.
Sorry.
I appreciate it.”.
When pressed further about the distinctions between Raya and Ramsdale, the manager remarked, “I’m not going to get into it. I avoid mentioning how unique Eddie [Nketiah] is in comparison to [Gabriel] Martinelli, Reiss Nelson, or anyone else. Every player has a unique personality and set of traits.”.
When Arsenal plays PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, it will be their first Champions League match since the 2016–17 season, and Arteta will need to make a fresh decision regarding his goalies.
