Manchester City reportedly wants to sign a wingback with a “great left foot” but has two significant issues.

Federico Dimarco of Inter Milan has been linked to Manchester City, but there are two major obstacles standing in their way, including competition from Chelsea.

 

Federico Dimarco, a player currently playing for Inter Milan, is a target for Manchester City, claims 90min.

Dimarco, a 25-year-old left wing-back, was reportedly scouted by the reigning Premier League champions last season, and they are still interested in him.

According to 90min, City has continued to monitor Dimarco’s development this year and wants to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.

In order to sign Federico Dimarco, Manchester City must overcome two obstacles.

City will need to overcome two significant obstacles, though.

First off, City is not the only club interested in Dimarco despite winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup last season.

Dimarco is reportedly a target for Chelsea, according to 90min.

Chelsea is looking to add a left wingback and has been monitoring the Italy international this year.

 

Second, the player is not actively seeking a transfer away from Inter Milan, a former Serie A and UEFA Champions League champion.q

According to 90min, Dimarco wants to “renew” his contract with Inter.

 

Until the summer of 2026, the wingback is obligated to stay with the Italian powerhouses.

High praise is given to Federico Dimarco.

Federico Dimarco is an excellent player who would improve Pep Guardiola’s team, but it is unclear whether Manchester City will be able to acquire his services.

It is clear how highly regarded Dimarco is in the footballing world from prior interest from Arsenal.

 

Daniele Adani, a former Inter player and Italy international, described Dimarco as a “modern full-back” with “quality play and a great left foot” in February 2021, as reported by SempreInter.

In 26 Serie A starts and 10 UEFA Champions League starts for the Italian club last year, the wingback scored four goals, provided three assists, and made five assists.
