Pep Guardiola asserts that Manchester City must take a car rather than an airplane to return from their Carabao Cup match at Newcastle.
After their Carabao Cup match on Wednesday, Manchester City will have to drive home from Newcastle because there are no private planes available to transport them.
Pep Guardiola claimed that the longer trip back to Manchester would only add to City’s already hectic schedule and wouldn’t help their injury list, which still includes John Stones, Bernardo Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne out with injuries. Kyle Walker and Ruben Dias will both receive rest at Newcastle, the first of City’s four straight away games over the next 12 days.
Guardiola has promised to do this.
After traveling there by coach or train for an evening away game against Newcastle or another team in the south of England, City occasionally took a flight home.
The train would be the first choice for getting home from a longer away game, but on Wednesday there are no rail options after full-time.
In that case, City would look into the possibility of catching a plane back, but since that is not an option, the team will have to take a coach the two and a half hours back to their training facility.
Following an early Thursday morning return, City will travel to Wolverhampton in preparation for their Premier League match on Saturday.
Next week, they will stay in Germany for three days to play RB Leipzig in the Champions League before playing Arsenal at the Emirates the following weekend.
We simply play the game, and we do it well, said Guardiola. It will be beneficial for the players who didn’t play many minutes and the rest to try to manage the minutes to arrive well because after we cannot travel back by plane due to a problem with something for the planes.
Since we don’t have any flights to get back, we must take a bus, which takes two or three hours longer, and we get here much later as a result.
I have no idea what happened to the plane. The team manager told me it had happened before, I believe in London.
There is nothing wrong with the bus, but we arrive much later than we anticipated.
We play in the Champions League in Germany, which is a really important game for us because we are aware of what it means to be able to win there in order to advance to the next stage, so that is why you have to think about that on Friday.
