Mikel Arteta has admitted that Arsenal’s £45m player is injured tonight.

Mikel Arteta has admitted that Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus picked up an injury against Sevilla tonight.

Jesus appeared for Arsenal on Tuesday night and helped them secure a 2-1 win over Sevilla.
The 26-year-old produced an outstanding first-half performance, with Gabriel Martinelli opening the scoring just before half-time.

He then doubled Arsenal’s lead early in the second half with a superb finish from the left flank.

But the Brazilian star had to be sent off late in the game for catching Eddie Nketiah’s hamstring.

Mikel Arteta has admitted the striker has suffered an injury after limping off the pitch this evening. Arteta recognizes that Jesus was wounded

In an interview with TNT Sports, Arteta was asked if Jesus was only taken as a precaution.

“Not.” The Arsenal manager responded.
“He felt something in his tendon.
Let’s see then.”

“He asked for an immediate change, which is not good news because Gabi is not that kind of player,” added Arteta.
“So we’ll have to wait for the next few days.”

Jesus missed the start of the season last summer through injury and it would be a huge blow for Arsenal to lose him again.

The £45million player has not been at his best in front of goal this season but remains an integral part of Arteta’s squad.
The striker was also at his best tonight and it was a shame to see him limp off after such an encouraging performance.

Nketiah has proven he can step up in Jesus’ absence, but his quality has suffered significantly without the Brazilian star in the squad.
Arsenal will be hoping for good news in the coming days as they face a tough schedule in the coming weeks.
