As Manchester City gets ready for the FIFA Club World Cup final, Aymeric Laporte has now sent a message to Erling Haaland.
On Friday night in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the treble winners take on Fluminense for the opportunity to win the world championship.
Aymeric Laporte sent something to Erling Haaland prior to Manchester City’s FIFA Club World Cup championship match. Let’s examine this.
What Haaland received from Laporte
After a workout, the Norway international shared a picture of himself tensing his muscles in Jeddah.
Laporte wrote “beast” in response to his former teammate after leaving Manchester City in August to join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
Before moving on to the Saudi Pro League, Laporte and the Norwegian shared the field 19 times. In all but two of those encounters, Manchester City prevailed, averaging 2.47 points per game and scoring 50 goals.
Al Nassr paid the Citizens £23.5 million for the Spain international, who was later traded for £77.6 million Josko Gvardiol.
Why Haaland is not available for the Fluminense vs. Manchester City match
The 23-year-old is sadly eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup final matchup with Fluminense.
Haaland has continued to have foot issues, which Pep Guardiola confirmed earlier this week. As a result, he was unable to participate in team training.
“Erling still cannot train,” the Spaniard is quoted by The Independent.
Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku are also not yet prepared.
There is still plenty of ground to be gained in the Premier League title race, so hopefully the Leeds-born striker is back in action when Manchester City returns to England.
Five points behind Arsenal in fourth place right now are the Citizens.
Following their return from Saudi Arabia, Manchester City will begin their FA Cup defense on Sunday, January 7, against Huddersfield in the third round. However, both teams will not receive the £85,000 that the Football Association had planned to award them.
