Real Betis center back Chadi Riad’s buy-back clause will be activated by Barcelona.

At Real Betis, the young center back is making an impression.

For the 2024–25 campaign, Barcelona has already added a new player: according to Diario SPORT, the team has decided to exercise the €7 million buy-back clause and will bring 20-year-old center-back Chadi Riad back from Real Betis the following summer. The club has already informed Betis and the player of their decision, and they plan to finalize the agreement within the next few months.

For €3.5 million last summer, Barça sold Riad to Betis, where the youthful defender developed into a highly effective full-time starter for Manuel Pellegrini’s team. Both his physical prowess and his ability to play from the back have impressed the Catalans, and they hope to see the young player back in the starting lineup for the upcoming campaign.

Numerous European clubs have already expressed interest in signing Riad due to his performances, so Barça moved swiftly to get him back to Camp Nou before Betis had the chance to sell him.

The Blaugrana have such faith in Riad’s potential that they are prepared to let go of a center back for next summer in the hopes that one of the players—Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, Eric García, or even Ronald Araujo—can fetch a huge price to improve their financial position.
