Preston North End vs. Chelsea injury and news: eight out and four doubts

Before Chelsea plays Preston North End in the FA Cup, the team news and injury updates include information about Robbie Brady and Ben Chilwell.

In the FA Cup third round, Preston North End will visit Stamford Bridge to take on an injured Chelsea.

The Lilywhites’ last victory over the Blues dates back more than 40 years, to Division Two play in the 1980s. Since then, the teams have faced off twice in the FA Cup, with Chelsea emerging victorious both times.

Despite not having any European football commitments, the West London team is currently ranked 10th in the Premier League rankings when compared to their top six opponents.

After losing to Sunderland on New Year’s Day, North End is currently five points out of the play-offs and in 14th place in the Championship.

Next Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final between Mauricio Pochettino’s team and Middlesbrough will be a crucial game for the Argentine manager to rotate his players. Nicolas Jackson has left to report for international duty with Senegal ahead of this month’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Chelsea has experienced something of an injury crisis, as several of their high-priced acquisitions have hardly seen action. Nonetheless, Preston’s injury situation isn’t too dire. They currently have one player out for the weekend and another who is just doubtful. Here are the most recent team and injury updates.
