Mauricio Pochettino: is he in the hot seat? Why Chelsea’s manager is safe for the time being, even after being humiliated by Middlesbrough – explained

Chelsea’s season has started badly; most recently, they lost the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final matchup against Middlesbrough, a Championship team. Even though Pochettino was only hired in the summer, the Blues have only won eight of their 20 games in the English top flight, placing them in 10th place in the Premier League and raising questions about his future.

The team still has a good chance of making it to Europe for next season, so Pochettino’s job is not in jeopardy just yet, according to The Telegraph. They are only three points behind Brighton in seventh place and three behind West Ham in sixth place, despite their standing in the league table. Moreover, they retain the possibility of winning the FA Cup, which would guarantee them a spot in the Europa League. In addition, should they overcome Middlesbrough and go on to win the Carabao Cup, they would be eligible to play in the Europa Conference League.

Pochettino assumed Chelsea’s managerial position prior to the start of the new campaign, with the aim of earning a spot in one of Europe’s competitions the following year. The team is still falling short of expectations even after making significant transfers in recent windows.

For Pochettino, it appears that the secon7d half of the campaign will either be all or nothing in Europe. On Saturday, the Stamford Bridge team will play a London derby against Fulham in the Premier League before hosting Middlesbrough for the second leg of their Carabao Cup match.
