Southgate Swings the Axe! Grealish and Maguire Miss Out on Euros
Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024 is in, and it’s missing some familiar faces. Big names like Jack Grealish and Harry Maguire were reportedly left off the final list, according to The New York Times. Talk about a surprise!
Southgate had a tough choice to make. He started with a whopping 33 players, but UEFA rules say he can only bring 26 to Germany. Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford were already out of the picture, and now Grealish and Maguire join them on the sidelines.
James Maddison also got the axe earlier this week and has already left the training camp. Liverpool youngsters Curtis Jones and Jarrel Quansah, along with goalkeeper James Trafford, didn’t make the cut either.
So, who did make the final squad? We’ll have to wait until Southgate officially announces it, but one thing’s for sure: this Euros is shaping up to be full of surprises!
