Man City Eyeing Euro 2024 Star Dani Olmo Amid Transfer Rumors
Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a move for RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, as the midfielder continues to impress at Euro 2024.
Olmo has been instrumental for Spain, recently helping his team reach the semi-finals with a dramatic 2-1 victory over hosts Germany in extra time. The Leipzig playmaker opened the scoring, only for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz to equalize in the dying minutes. Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino then netted the winner, setting up a semi-final clash with France.
For several months, Olmo has been linked with a departure from Leipzig, with both City and Liverpool showing interest. German news outlet Sport Bild has reported that City and manager Pep Guardiola have a “concrete” interest in the talented midfielder.
Speculation suggests Olmo has a €60 million (£51 million) release clause in his contract, potentially expiring on July 15. This clause could be pivotal as City look to bolster their squad.
Olmo’s No. 7 shirt at Leipzig could give City an edge in the transfer race. Joao Cancelo currently wears No. 7 for City, but with increased expectations of his permanent exit following loans to Bayern Munich and Barcelona, the number could soon be available.
