Ibrahimovic Torches City in 10 Words

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Cheeky Dig at Man City Ahead of AC Milan’s Win

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, despite leaving Manchester United in 2018, has shown where his loyalties lie ahead of AC Milan’s pre-season victory over Manchester City at New York’s Yankee Stadium.

The former United striker, who joined the Reds from PSG in 2016, became a fan favorite during his two-year stint at Old Trafford. Ibrahimovic made 53 appearances, scoring 29 goals, before moving to LA Galaxy and eventually returning to AC Milan before retiring. Since hanging up his boots last summer, Ibrahimovic has taken on a senior advisory role at AC Milan, representing the club’s new owners, RedBird Capital Partners.

In his ambassadorial role, Ibrahimovic attended the Milan vs. City friendly in New York. During an interview for Man City TV, the 42-year-old couldn’t resist a playful jab at the Manchester City fanbase. As he was being introduced, he quipped, “Do you have any viewers for this Man City TV?” This comment drew laughter from the host and pundits Shaun Wright-Phillips and Joleon Lescott, who assured him that “loads of people” were watching the stream back in the UK.

Ibrahimovic had more reason to smile after the match as AC Milan secured a 3-2 victory. Erling Haaland initially gave City the lead, but a quick double from Lorenzo Colombo put Milan ahead by halftime. James McAtee equalized for City ten minutes after the interval, but Marco Nasti’s goal, just over ten minutes before full-time, sealed the win for the Italian side.

Ibrahimovic’s presence and his cheeky banter added an extra layer of intrigue to the friendly, reminding fans of his enduring charisma and connection to Manchester United.
