Manchester United are gearing up for a flurry of activity as the transfer deadline approaches, and Hannibal Mejbri might be the next to exit Old Trafford with Burnley showing interest.
Burnley are keen to sign Mejbri to replace Sander Berge, who is set to join Fulham for £20 million, potentially rising to £25 million. Burnley had initially eyed Scott McTominay, but negotiations stalled. Now, they see Mejbri, 21, as the ideal replacement. Mejbri, who has only a year left on his contract, has struggled to secure a regular spot, making just six appearances during a challenging loan spell at Sevilla. United are looking for a cash deal for the Tunisian midfielder.
Meanwhile, Burnley are also close to signing Chelsea’s Bashir Humphreys, who had a successful loan at Swansea last season. Humphreys has completed his medical, bolstering Burnley’s defense as they look to replace Republic of Ireland international Dara O’Shea, who is being pursued by Wolves and Brentford. Burnley are holding out for £15 million for O’Shea, who was bought for £7 million last summer.
On the transfer front, Manchester United are still eyeing Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte. Despite PSG’s £51 million asking price, United are hoping the French club will lower their demands as the window nears its end. Ugarte, 23, was absent from PSG’s recent match and is eager to join United. Manager Erik ten Hag seeks a midfield partner for Kobbie Mainoo and has been pursuing Ugarte for weeks. United may propose a loan-to-buy option, but prefer a direct cash deal.
United are not pressed to sell to fund Ugarte’s transfer, though Napoli continues to show interest in McTominay. Despite ongoing discussions, no deal with Napoli is imminent.
