Tony Stewart Celebrates 25 Years of Tony Stewart Racing, Embraces New Chapter in Motorsports
Tony Stewart, a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, has built a legacy far beyond the driver’s seat. As a businessman and racing enthusiast, Stewart has not only raced at the highest level but has also founded successful ventures, including Tony Stewart Racing (TSR), which turns 25 in 2025.
A Legacy of Success
Founded in 2000, TSR has become a powerhouse in dirt racing, amassing an impressive list of accolades. The team boasts 14 USAC championships, 9 World of Outlaws titles, and 4 All Star Circuit of Champions TQ Midget Series titles. Today, TSR fields Donny Schatz in the World of Outlaws Series, where he has claimed multiple championships under Stewart’s banner.
To mark the milestone, Stewart and his wife, Leah Pruett, hosted a celebration with the Performance Racing Industry (PRI), reflecting on TSR’s rich history. Pruett shared her excitement on Instagram:
“Celebrated the 25th Anniversary of TSR this week, as 2025 will hit the quarter-century marker of success for Tony Stewart Racing. Was awesome, felt like PRI came to us lol. Thanks to all our partners that showed up and kicked off Performance Racing Industry [PRI] week with us.”
Humble Beginnings to Racing Dominance
TSR’s origins date back to the 1990s when Tony Stewart co-owned USAC Silver Crown cars with Bob East, earning 16 feature wins and forming a formidable partnership. TSR officially debuted in dirt racing in 2001 and has since grown into a dominant force in the sport.
Shifting Priorities, But the Legacy Continues
While Stewart continues to manage TSR and his other ventures, his recent decision to step away from Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) marked a significant change. Earlier this year, he announced his withdrawal from the NASCAR Cup Series team, leaving Gene Haas to take full control. The team downsized from four cars to one, with charters sold to streamline operations.
Stewart expressed no regrets about the move, explaining, “The sale took a lot of weight off my shoulders, and I’m less stressed about it.” With this shift, Stewart can now focus on his sprint car team, the iconic Eldora Speedway, and his drag racing teams.
A New Chapter for Stewart and His Family
On a personal level, life has changed significantly for the 53-year-old. In 2024, Stewart’s wife, Leah Pruett, took a break from racing as the couple welcomed their first child. Now a father, Stewart’s priorities are evolving, and he is busier than ever balancing his responsibilities and passions.
Even with these changes, Stewart remains dedicated to his racing pursuits. Free from the demands of NASCAR team ownership, he plans to compete in more sprint car races while continuing his drag racing career.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As the 2024 season wraps up, Tony Stewart Racing gears up for its next chapter. With 25 years of accomplishments behind them, Stewart and his team are ready to aim even higher in the coming season, proving once again why TSR remains one of the most celebrated teams in dirt racing history.
