LIVE: LIONS’ SECONDARY IN SHAMBLES AS INJURIES PILE UP AGAINST THE BILLS
The Detroit Lions are facing a crisis in their secondary during Sunday’s Week 15 clash with the Buffalo Bills at Ford Field. Already thin at cornerback, the Lions have now lost two more players during the game, leaving their defense in a precarious position against MVP candidate Josh Allen.
Khalil Dorsey Suffers Serious Injury
Cornerback Khalil Dorsey went down late in the second quarter with a serious ankle injury. The scene was emotional as the entire Lions team gathered around Dorsey while medical staff attended to him on the field. He was eventually carted off, and the Lions ruled him out for the remainder of the game.
Dorsey was only on the field due to another significant loss earlier in the game.
Carlton Davis III Ruled Out with Jaw Injury
Carlton Davis III exited in the first half after entering concussion protocol and was initially listed as questionable with a jaw injury. However, coming out of halftime, Davis was officially downgraded to out, leaving Detroit scrambling for replacements.
Josh Allen Exploits Lions’ Weakened Defense
With the Lions’ secondary depleted, Josh Allen has had a field day. As of early in the third quarter, the Bills’ offense has already racked up over 400 total yards, including 282 passing yards from Allen.
The Lions’ defense has struggled with injuries all season, losing key players like Aidan Hutchinson, Mekhi Wingo, John Cominsky, Derrick Barnes, Alex Anzalone, and Malcolm Rodriguez at various points. The lack of depth is now glaring against one of the NFL’s most potent offenses.
Desperate Adjustments in the Secondary
With Emmanuel Moseley already ruled out before Sunday’s game, the Lions are now forced to rely on backups like Kindle Vildor and Brandon Joseph to contain the Bills’ relentless attack.
Head coach Dan Campbell will have to rally his defense if the Lions hope to keep their chances alive in this high-stakes matchup. However, with the injuries piling up and Buffalo in control, Detroit faces an uphill battle in their bid to hold onto their NFC North lead. Stay tuned for further updates.
