Kyle Larson Reveals Humble Truth Behind Iconic ‘Yung Money’ Persona

Kyle Larson Takes Global Stage: Racing Phenom Expands His Horizons with High Limit International

This past year, Kyle Larson has once again proven why his name is synonymous with excellence in motorsports. Since earning the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title in 2014, the Hendrick Motorsports ace has built a legacy that continues to dazzle fans worldwide. With six Cup Series victories in the 2024 season, Larson’s dominance is unmatched, but his passion for racing goes far beyond NASCAR tracks.

In addition to his Cup Series success, Larson co-owns the High Limit Racing (HLR) series alongside his brother-in-law, Brad Sweet. This venture has given him the opportunity to reconnect with his dirt racing roots while showcasing his remarkable versatility. His recent international escapade in Australia not only highlighted his exceptional talent but also paved the way for expanding the reach of HLR.

A Master of All Tracks

Few drivers can claim the adaptability of Kyle Larson. Back in 2021, his versatility was on full display as he won an astonishing 29 races across 87 starts, including 10 NASCAR Cup Series victories en route to the championship. His triumphs spanned four track types—dirt ovals, paved ovals, road courses, and ROVALs—and across four racing divisions: NASCAR Cup Series, Sprint Cars, Midgets, and Dirt Late Models.

Such versatility earned him the nickname “Yung Money” during his teenage years from a USAC series official—a nod to his ability to conquer any track. Reflecting on his love for racing after a recent stint in Western Australia, Larson shared, “I just love racing… I race 80 to 90 times a year and race full-time in NASCAR.”

While acknowledging the challenges of his packed schedule, Larson remains undeterred. “It’s difficult,” he admitted, but quickly added, “It definitely wears on you at times throughout the summer when you’re racing almost every day of the week and traveling a lot. But it’s what I do. I’m a professional race car driver, so it’s how I make my living. And yeah, it’s just a lot of fun.”

Taking the High Limit Series International

Larson recently competed in a sprint car race at Perth Motorplex in Western Australia, finishing an impressive fourth after starting from the sixth row. The trip wasn’t just about personal achievement—it also marked the first international event for High Limit Racing.

The $100,000-to-win “High Limit International: Perth” event held from December 28–30 brought several U.S. drivers to face off against Australia’s top talent. The effort to expand HLR globally required meticulous planning. Larson worked closely with Australian counterparts to transport equipment and ensure a successful event.

Expressing his excitement, Larson said, “I’ve been wanting to get here for quite a while now, so I’m happy to be here. The facility is amazing. This is one of the nicest tracks that I’ve gotten to race at, and I’ve raced at a few hundred different tracks. It’s really, really neat and the racing is great too.”

The event also aligns with Larson and Sweet’s vision of expanding HLR’s fanbase beyond U.S. borders.

A Legacy of Excellence

Larson’s brilliance is no secret in the racing world. From winning prestigious events like the Chili Bowl Nationals and Knoxville Nationals to earning the title of “Hard Charger” in Australia, his accomplishments continue to pile up. His experience in Australia reminded him of the Vado Speedway Park in New Mexico, with Larson noting the similarity between the two tracks and praising both facilities.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As the 2025 season approaches, Kyle Larson is poised for another landmark year. With his relentless drive and passion for racing, he’s not just growing his personal legacy—he’s also lifting his High Limit Racing series to new heights. Whatever comes next, it’s clear that Larson will continue to redefine what it means to be a true racing phenom.
