South Carolina lands Signing Day commitment from fast-rising player at position of need

Gamecocks Land 3-Star DT Christian Ingram in National Signing Day Commitment

The South Carolina Gamecocks bolstered their defensive line on National Signing Day with the commitment of 3-star defensive tackle Christian Ingram, who officially signed during a ceremony at his high school on Wednesday morning. Ingram, a Georgia native, shared the news live on social media.

A late riser in the recruiting world, Ingram chose South Carolina over strong interest from programs like Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Michigan, and Southern Cal (USC). Despite visits to other schools, a recent trip to Columbia solidified his decision.

“[The other schools in his recruitment] don’t even compare,” Ingram told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “Shane Beamer’s South Carolina football program is home for me.”

Rated as a 3-star recruit by the On3 industry composite, Ingram is ranked No. 497 nationally, No. 65 in Georgia, and No. 48 among defensive linemen. Notably, two major recruiting outlets view him as a 4-star prospect, showcasing his potential.

Ingram now joins a growing list of Georgia defenders signing with the Gamecocks, including linebacker AJ Holloway, EDGE Kobby Sakyi-Prah, defensive back Chris Hatfield, and junior college defensive tackle Zavion Hardy. His addition strengthens South Carolina’s defensive future as Shane Beamer continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail.
