Breaking News: Andrew Overstreet to Make Full-Time NASCAR Crew Chief Debut with JR Motorsports

Big changes are coming to the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series, and Andrew Overstreet is stepping into the spotlight. As announced by Carson Kvapil on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Overstreet is set to make his full-time debut as a crew chief for JR Motorsports, leading the No. 1 Chevrolet team.

Overstreet’s Journey to the Top

Overstreet has proven himself as a standout talent during his part-time crew chief tenure with JR Motorsports. His achievements include a victory at Watkins Glen and multiple top-five and top-ten finishes. His engineering expertise and ability to collaborate with drivers have earned him this well-deserved promotion.

Andrew Overstreet is going to be the crew chief. He was [crew chief] for the fifth car, the No. 88, last year with me, [Connor] Zilisch, [Connor] Mosack, and [Bubba] Pollard. He’s moving up to full-time crew chief,” announced Carson Kvapil, highlighting Overstreet’s rise.

Overstreet’s resume includes time at Hendrick Motorsports, where he sharpened his engineering and technical skills. Last year, he worked as the part-time crew chief for JR Motorsports’ No. 88 Chevrolet, collaborating with drivers like Carson Kvapil, Connor Zilisch, Bubba Pollard, and even NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The Perfect Fit

For Overstreet, this new role is a seamless progression. “Me and Andrew [Overstreet] worked really well together last year, and I felt like we had a pretty good deal going there,” said Carson Kvapil, who will continue to work with Overstreet in the 2025 season.

Kvapil himself will take on a full-time racing role, supported by Connor Zilisch, a rising star from Trackhouse Racing’s development program. Zilisch has impressed in select Xfinity Series races and will partner with Mardy Lindley, who is transitioning to lead the No. 88 team.

JR Motorsports: A Hub for Rising Talent

Founded by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kelley Earnhardt Miller, and Rick Hendrick, JR Motorsports has built a reputation for blending competitiveness with talent development. With Overstreet stepping into this leadership role, the No. 1 Chevrolet team is poised for a strong season.

“Mardy [Lindley] is going to be Zilisch’s crew chief,” added Kvapil, signaling an exciting shuffle in leadership. Lindley brings extensive experience, including seven wins and numerous top-five finishes while working with Sam Mayer.

What to Expect in 2025

The 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series will be broadcast on The CW, continuing its deal through 2031. With 33 races on the schedule, the season kicks off with the iconic Daytona 300 on February 15 at Daytona International Speedway and concludes with the Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway.
