South Alabama Lands Experienced SEC Offensive Lineman in Transfer Portal Move

South Alabama Bolsters Offensive Line with Transfer Commitment from Ni Mansell

In a significant transfer portal move, South Alabama has secured a commitment from former South Carolina offensive lineman Ni Mansell.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, Mansell brings both size and experience to the Jaguars’ roster. After redshirting in 2023 due to injury, he appeared in two games for the Gamecocks this past season. With one year of eligibility remaining, Mansell is looking to make an impact in Mobile.

A native of Anderson, South Carolina, Mansell initially made his mark at Mercer University, where he played three seasons. Notably, he started 10 games at guard in 2022, showcasing his abilities before transferring to South Carolina. His journey has been shaped by perseverance, with the 2020 season not counting against his eligibility due to COVID regulations.

Taking to Twitter to share his excitement, Mansell announced:
✅🫡🏡 Committed to South Alabama @SouthAlabamaFB.”

Mansell, whose full first name is pronounced “Nye-ju-won,” is the fifth transfer portal commitment for the Jaguars this cycle. He joins an impressive group of newcomers, including:

  • Tre’Mon Henry (linebacker, Southern Miss)
  • Tirrell Johnson (defensive end, Harding)
  • Brendan Jenkins (wide receiver, Samford)
  • Dallas Young (defensive back, Arkansas)

With spring semester classes beginning on Monday, South Alabama is expected to finalize a few more transfer additions to round out their roster.

The Jaguars are coming off a 7-6 season in 2024, capped by a 30-23 victory over Eastern Michigan in the Salute to Veterans Bowl. Mansell’s arrival could play a key role in building on that momentum for the upcoming season.
