Donovan Murph: Poised for Immediate Impact at South Carolina
The South Carolina Gamecocks have secured a significant addition to their 2025 roster with the signing of Donovan Murph, a four-star wide receiver from Irmo High School. Murph’s impressive high school career and physical attributes position him as a strong candidate to contribute immediately to the Gamecocks’ offense.
High School Achievements
Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 190 pounds, Murph reclassified from the 2026 to the 2025 class, accelerating his transition to collegiate football. During his junior year, he recorded 96 receptions for 1,328 yards and 12 touchdowns, leading Irmo to a 13-2 record and a berth in the state’s 5A Division II championship. Over two seasons, he amassed a total of 153 catches for 2,412 yards and 29 touchdowns.

His outstanding performance earned him a spot in the Under Armour All-American game, highlighting his status as one of the nation’s top high school receivers.
Recruitment and Commitment
Murph’s decision to join South Carolina was influenced by the strong relationships he built with the coaching staff. He noted, “It feels like home. Everybody shows me love. The whole staff shows me love.” He chose the Gamecocks over offers from prominent programs, including Clemson, Colorado, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
Potential for Immediate Contribution
Given the Gamecocks’ need to bolster their receiving corps, Murph’s arrival is timely. His combination of size, speed, and proven production makes him a strong candidate for early playing time. The departure of key receivers from the previous season opens opportunities for newcomers to step in, and Murph’s skill set aligns well with the team’s offensive strategies.
As the Gamecocks prepare for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on Murph to see how quickly he adapts to the collegiate level and makes his mark on the field.
