COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley is set to share her incredible journey with the world through her upcoming book, “Uncommon Favor: Basketball, North Philly, My Mother and the Life Lessons I Learned from All Three.” The biography is slated for release in May 2025, and pre-orders are now available.
Taking to social media, Staley unveiled the book’s title and significance, reflecting on the highs and lows of her career.

Writing a memoir was something Staley had considered for a while but had put off until now.
“First, I grew weary of people asking me,” Staley shared on Friday. “Second, I needed to do it before I forgot everything. And third, the season we had last year made me truly grateful for what I describe as an ‘uncommon favor’ career.”
More than just a personal story, Staley emphasized that the book serves as a tribute to those who have supported her and a testament to the leadership and perseverance that have defined her journey.
