“NFL GM on South Carolina: ‘Shane Beamer and His Staff Aren’t Second to Anybody’”
The South Carolina Gamecocks have made a strong commitment to their future, extending head coach Shane Beamer through the 2030 season. And if you ask one NFL general manager, Beamer’s leadership has elevated the program to elite status.
After finishing the 2024 season with a 9-3 record, South Carolina heads into the 2025 college football season with high expectations. The Gamecocks’ ability to develop talent is turning heads, with an NFL GM raving about Beamer’s coaching at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
NFL GM: Gamecocks’ Development is Top-Tier
Speaking with Gamecocks on SI, the NFL GM praised South Carolina’s ability to mold players into top prospects:
“There is a helluva lot of good coaching going on with the Gamecocks. All you have to do is look at LaNorris Sellers, who he was in high school and who he is now—that youngster has made some real money thanks to that staff. Listen, in the SEC, you’re competing with the biggest dogs in the nation, and to compete with the Gamecocks, you have to develop guys. If those fans give Shane the support he needs financially, he can develop them, but they must keep them. There is a lot of good coaching in the SEC, but South Carolina, Shane and his staff aren’t second to anybody.”
Gamecocks Hold On to Key Talent
South Carolina has done an impressive job retaining its top players despite heavy interest from other programs. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers, a rising star, had multiple suitors but remained with the Gamecocks. The same goes for EDGE rusher Dylan Stewart, another highly coveted player who chose to stay in Columbia.
With Shane Beamer leading the way and South Carolina keeping its core talent intact, the Gamecocks are poised to make serious noise in the SEC.
