South Carolina’s Incoming Freshmen Class
Eli Ellis and Hayden Assemian are two key pieces of a four-man freshman class for South Carolina basketball, joining Washington D.C. sharpshooter Grant Polk and versatile Kentucky forward EJ Walker.
- Eli Ellis, a two-time OTE MVP and the league’s all-time leading scorer, is a fierce competitor and elite three-level scorer. He also has a massive social media presence, adding excitement and visibility to the Gamecocks program. On3 ranks him as the No. 70 overall recruit in the class of 2025, and he earned Iverson Classic All-American honors this season.
- Hayden Assemian, originally from Powdersville High School (SC), transferred to OTE for his senior season to play alongside Ellis. An explosive forward, he left Powdersville as the all-time leader in rebounds and blocked shots while leading the Patriots to their first state championship. He is ranked No. 243 in the 2025 cycle.
Gamecock Targets in the 2026 Class
While South Carolina has no current commits in the 2026 class, Isaac Ellis and Kohl Rosario are among their top targets.
- Isaac Ellis (younger brother of Eli Ellis) is a combo guard with strong defensive skills and a left-handed scoring touch. Though not yet as highly rated as his older brother, he recently earned a 3-star ranking from On3.
- Kohl Rosario, a 6’5” Florida native, is officially listed as a shooting guard but has the athleticism to play either wing position. He’s known for his explosive leaping ability and an improving outside shot. On3 ranks him No. 165 in the class of 2026.
OTE Season Honors
Ellis, Ellis, and Rosario were all named to the All-OTE team, with Isaac Ellis being a finalist for OTE Defensive Player of the Year.
With South Carolina’s future stars shining on the big stage, Gamecock fans will have plenty to watch as these elite recruits battle for the OTE crown.
