South Carolina Commit Eli Ellis Shines in Overtime Elite Finals, Breaks All-Time Record
Eli Ellis, a South Carolina basketball commit, continues to make history in the Overtime Elite championship series. On Thursday night, he led YNG Dreamerz to a crucial Game 3 victory over the City Reapers, securing a 2-1 series lead—and setting an all-time record in the process.
Ellis delivered an outstanding performance, racking up 33 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. His four assists made him the Overtime Elite all-time leader in the category, further solidifying his legacy. Already the league’s all-time leading scorer and a two-time defending MVP, Ellis is proving why he’s one of the most exciting young players in the country.
His dominance extends beyond a single game—Ellis has been on fire throughout the series, averaging 36.3 points while shooting over 50% from the field and beyond the arc. Now, the future Gamecock is just one win away from claiming an Overtime Elite championship.
The pivotal Game 4 is set for Friday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m., with Game 5 (if necessary) on Sunday, March 16, at 3:00 p.m. Fans can catch both matchups streaming live on Overtime Elite’s YouTube channel.
The Future of Gamecock Basketball
Ellis, ranked No. 70 overall in the On3 industry rankings, committed to South Carolina last fall and will join the team this summer. His YNG Dreamerz teammate, Hayden Assemian, another Gamecock commit, will also be heading to Columbia.
The Gamecocks’ 2025 class is shaping up well, with Grant Polk (a sharpshooting wing) and EJ Walker (a versatile forward) joining Ellis and Assemian. The four-man recruiting class currently ranks 49th nationally.
With Ellis rewriting records and proving himself on the biggest stages, South Carolina basketball fans have plenty to be excited about.
