MiLaysia Fulwiley’s Emotional Reaction to Steph Curry’s South Carolina Move

Stephen Curry Shows Love for MiLaysia Fulwiley, Gamecocks Star Delivers in NCAA Tournament Blowout!

Golden State Warriors icon Stephen Curry made a bold statement of support for South Carolina Gamecocks star MiLaysia Fulwiley ahead of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Tournament. On Thursday, before facing the Toronto Raptors, Curry was spotted wearing a shirt featuring the sophomore guard’s image—a moment that instantly went viral.

It seems the two-time NBA MVP’s gesture sparked something special in Fulwiley. Coming off the bench for the No. 1 seed Gamecocks, she played with confidence, helping power South Carolina to a commanding 108-48 victory over No. 16 seed Tennessee Tech in the tournament opener.

Fulwiley Reacts to Curry’s Shoutout

Following the dominant win, Fulwiley was asked about her thoughts on Curry’s public display of support. Her response? Pure emotion.

“It’s a blessing, man,” Fulwiley told Jared Parker of WACH FOX 57. “When I seen it, I couldn’t really say nothing, but I almost cried, honestly.”

Fulwiley, who scored 15 points on an ultra-efficient 6-for-8 shooting, reflected on what it meant for someone of Curry’s stature to recognize her talent.

“You know, just seeing how I grew up and where I come from, nobody from where I come from, that would ever happen to them,” she said. “So, I’m just proud of myself… just keep going, trusting the process, and just locking in because other great people will be on notice, like Steph, and I’m just blessed, honestly. I mean, I seen it, I couldn’t believe it. I’m just proud of myself.”

Gamecocks Dominate Behind Joyce Edwards’ Star Performance

While Fulwiley’s night was special, it was freshman sensation Joyce Edwards who stole the show. Edwards led the Gamecocks with 22 points, shooting a scorching 9-for-12 from the field in a performance that showcased why South Carolina is a serious title contender.

Head coach Dawn Staley had her team firing on all cylinders. The Gamecocks shot an incredible 67.2% from the field and outscored Tennessee Tech in the paint by a dominant 38 points.

With their first-round challenge behind them, the defending national champions now set their sights on No. 9 seed Indiana in the second round this Saturday. Expect MiLaysia Fulwiley, Joyce Edwards, and the rest of the Gamecocks to be locked in as they continue their pursuit of back-to-back titles.
