Gamecock Nation opens up about Four South Carolina Stars Set to Make Waves at 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals!

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (USA Basketball)USA Basketball has officially announced that the 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals will take place May 2–4 at the Arizona Athletic Grounds (AAG) in Mesa, Arizona. The event promises high-level competition, featuring up to eight men’s teams and 16 women’s teams, showcasing the nation’s top 3×3 basketball talent in the battle for national titles.

Among the standout teams is South Carolina’s squad, featuring a powerhouse lineup: Joyce Edwards, Chloe Kitts, Tessa Johnson, and Maddy McDaniel.

Joyce Edwards is no stranger to the national spotlight. She captured gold with the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup team, where she averaged 12.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks, earning All-Star Five honors. She continued to shine in 2024 as a top performer for the USA Women’s Nike Hoop Summit team, leading the squad with 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals in an 83–80 victory over the World Select Team. Edwards was also named to the 2024 Women’s U18 National Team, adding to her appearances at both the U17 and U16 National Team Trials.

Chloe Kitts brings a strong resume of her own, holding two gold medals with USA Basketball. She played a key role in the 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championship and the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, where she averaged 10.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists across seven games.

Maddy McDaniel has been a steady presence in the USAB pipeline, most recently participating in the 2024 Women’s U18 National Team trials. She was also selected for the 2024 USA Women’s Nike Hoop Summit Team, although she did not compete due to injury, and previously attended the 2023 Junior National Team minicamp in Dallas.

For Tessa Johnson, the 3X Nationals will mark her debut appearance with USA Basketball, adding another layer of intrigue to South Carolina’s dynamic roster.

The 3X Nationals will kick off with preliminary rounds on May 2, followed by medal-round action on Sunday. Teams will be seeded based on early-round records before entering bracket play. Fans can watch the action live via X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube.com/USABasketball throughout the weekend.

The event is free and open to the public, with free ticket reservations available to enhance the fan experience.

Beyond competition, the 3X Nationals will serve as a key evaluation event for future selections to USA Basketball’s 3×3 national teams, including the 2025 FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and the USA 3×3 World Tour, Women’s Series, U23 Nations League, and U23 World Cup.

In traditional 3×3 format, games are played on a half-court with a 10-minute clock and 12-second shot clock. The first team to 21 points, or the team ahead at the end of regulation, wins.

Fans can expect fast-paced action, rising stars, and a weekend full of elite-level 3×3 basketball competition.
