Dawn Staley Continues to Shine Beyond the Court as “Uncommon Favor” Book Tour Comes to Columbia

Though the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball season ended with a hard-fought national championship loss to Geno Auriemma’s UConn Huskies, the spotlight remains firmly on legendary head coach Dawn Staley.

The Gamecocks’ remarkable season included a Final Four appearance—another testament to Staley’s status as one of the greatest coaches in women’s basketball history. Before falling to UConn, South Carolina powered through an impressive tournament run, defeating Tennessee Tech, Indiana, Maryland, Duke, and Texas. Now, the team is already laying the groundwork for another championship pursuit in the upcoming season.

“Am my SC FAMs!” Staley enthusiastically announced. “We are 3 weeks away from when we link up on my book tour for UNCOMMON FAVOR. Come on out May 29 to hear me in conversation with our very own, the Honorable J. Michelle Childs. Plus, you’ll get a signed copy of my book and a quick pic with me. Let’s gooo!”

Previously, Staley had only confirmed tour stops in New York and Philadelphia, leaving fans hopeful for a South Carolina appearance. On Thursday, she made it official—her home state will be part of the tour, much to the delight of Gamecocks supporters.

The event is set for 6 p.m. ET on May 29 at the R2i2 Conference Center, where attendees will receive a signed copy of “Uncommon Favor” and a photo opportunity with Staley herself.

As the Gamecocks prepare for another season of dominance, Staley’s book tour offers fans a unique chance to celebrate her legacy—both as a coach and as an inspirational leader. Will you be there?
