Kyle Walker believes Pep Guardiola can now completely transform a “fantastic” Man City player.

According to Kyle Walker, Jeremy Doku at Manchester City could develop into a star player under Pep Guardiola’s direction.

Following some doubt about his future during the most recent summer transfer window, the right-back recently signed a contract extension to keep him with the Manchester club until 2026.

Walker then conducted an interview with the club’s media where he discussed a variety of subjects, including the new players that City signed during the summer.

Walker supports Doku’s transformation under Guardiola.

The 33-year-old had the following to say about Doku the winger.

He declared: “Quick, raw, and with Pep’s guidance again, and sharpening up on a few specific things which he probably knows that he needs to bring to his game, I think he’s going to be.

The Belgian was City’s third incoming signing of the summer when they acquired him from Rennes in August for a reported fee of £55 million.

The 21-year-old has only played in one Premier League game for Pep Guardiola’s team since then, a 5-1 victory over Fulham in which he played 76 minutes.

Given the sizeable transfer fee City paid to sign Doku, it is obvious that they must have seen something in him that convinced them he was worth the money.

In support of what Walker said about the attacker, when his transfer to City was announced, the attacker acknowledged that he still has much to learn and develop in terms of his overall game.

Everyone at the club will be hoping that Doku can do just that and develop into a significant and valuable player for the treble winners given Guardiola’s track record of developing players.

Kyle Walker talks about his new deal with Man City and his discussions with Bayern Munich.

After coming “close” to leaving Manchester City for Bayern Munich during the transfer window, full-back Kyle Walker has now confirmed he will sign a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Walker was approached by Bayern about a transfer to Munich as they prepared for Benjamin Pavard’s eventual departure.

It seemed as though the England international was about to make the move, but City fought tooth and nail to keep him and persuade him to enter into negotiations for an extension.

Walker admitted: “It was close, but in football things can happen” when reflecting on the discussions with Bayern. It is possible to make decisions and change course.

Not in the cards.

“Of course I would have enjoyed the experience, but this is a great club, and you can’t underestimate what this club has accomplished over the past six or seven years.

I want to play enough games, that’s all I want, why should I leave if I’m going to get enough game time that’s right for me.

“It came down to who gave me the most years.

Because Bayern Munich is a huge club and considering what Harry [Kane] is doing there and will do, it wasn’t like I was moving to a worse club.

Although I always had it in the back of my mind, I had to put my future and well-being first before playing for Manchester City.

Which club gave me the years in my contract to play football at the highest level was all that mattered.”.

Walker continued by saying he was about to sign a contract extension with City that would keep him with the reigning Premier League champions through the year 2026.

Walker declared, “The extension is coming.

“This is my seventh season here, and I already feel like an old hand. I adore this location.

Why would you want to leave a club like this?

I’ve done things here that I could only have imagined, especially in the most recent season.

Walker discussed how manager Pep Guardiola persuaded him to remain at the Etihad in an interview with The Times.

Walker recalled, “I really like Pep, and he was nice enough to invite me out for dinner.

“For once, he paid the bill!

It was beneficial to learn about his goals and plans for the future and this season.

It was crucial to hear Pep’s opinions and share my perspective on how the guys feel about the upcoming season as one of the senior players and the captain.”.
