Napoli won’t sell Victor Osimhen in January, so he’s still willing to accept a move to Chelsea in January and a summer move.
Team Talk claims that Victor Osimhen has made himself available to Chelsea should they make an approach. According to the report, the attacker, 24, may even sign a pre-contract with the Blues now and join the Premier League in the summer.
Is Victor Osimhen in favor of Chelsea’s change?
Since Victor Osimhen extended his contract with Napoli, numerous rumors have surfaced indicating that he will soon be joining the Premier League. A £112 million release clause in the new agreement could present opportunities for some of the interested parties.
Arsenal was interested, but they might have been forced to withdraw from the competition permanently due to the cost. Chelsea, who are still in the hunt and are eager to advance, provided competition for the Gunners. Over the past 18 months, the Blue have spent more money than any other team in world football, but they have never been able to sign a top striker.
They may take action in January if the ideal player becomes available as they seek to fill the No. 9 spot. Even before he agreed to a new contract, though, they were ready to throw caution to the wind and focus entirely on Osimhen.
According to the report, Chelsea may now decide to follow their lead and try to complete an early transfer for the 24-year-old attacker in order to stave off competition. Osimhen, on the other hand, is still willing to sign a pre-contract with the Blues and transfer to Stamford Bridge in the summer after concluding his career at Napoli.
Is it realistic for Chelsea to sign Osimhen?
Aurelio Di Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, made sure Osimhen inked a new contract that included a release clause. Napoli would have preferred to sell him for that £112 million in the summer, but the new contract gives them more leverage.
Di Laurentiis will therefore accept his release clause in its entirety, which requires teams to pay that sum. That’s a lot to ask, though, and Chelsea might have decided against moving for Ivan Toney because of his high price and his stated desire to sign with Arsenal.
Nevertheless, Chelsea has demonstrated its ability to circumvent release clauses in the past with agreements for Enzo Fernandez and, most recently, Christopher Nkunku. Rather than paying the entire clause at once, they may structure the deal, as they did with Osimhen, and come to an agreement with Napoli.
