Due to an ongoing injury from last season, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka may have to miss a number of games.
The 22-year-old England international has made nearly 200 senior appearances for the club and has started every Premier League game for the Gunners over the last two seasons.
The forward has been dealing with a problem for some time, so manager Mikel Arteta must choose whether to risk Saka’s fitness given the demanding schedule that lies ahead.
According to The Mail, Saka was not only left off the starting lineup for this week’s match against Scotland due to roster rotation, but also because he is reportedly having Achilles problems.
Arsenal will play Everton away this weekend before hosting PSV on Wednesday to reclaim their Champions League spot.
The following matches are against Tottenham in the North London Derby, Brentford in the third round of the League Cup, and Manchester City and Chelsea in October.
For some of the games that have a better chance of being won, particularly the League Cup matchups, Saka might be rested. Arteta will have to choose whether to stick with the winger for the upcoming few weeks or rotate with players like Reiss Nelson because Arsenal don’t have a like-for-like replacement for the player.
Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz, and Fabio Vieira are additional candidates for the right wing.
