CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MATCHDAY: According to Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s return to the Champions League is just the beginning.

After a six-year absence, the Gunners are back at the top table of Europe after remaining loyal to their manager despite adversity.

Mikel Arteta claims he has always thought he will lead Arsenal back to the Champions League.

The Gunners begin their campaign against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night in Group B as they compete in the tournament for the first time since the 2016–17 campaign.

Arteta had to fight through rocky patches and the Covid-19 pandemic in order to get to this point, so the journey had not been simple.

But the Spaniard insists that he never lost hope and is committed to seeing the team succeed moving forward.

Mikel Arteta will lead Arsenal into uncharted territory in the Champions League.

When Arteta thought back on the development of Arsenal under his leadership, he said, “It feels like yesterday, but in the same way it feels like many more years ago.”.

Undoubtedly, we faced some difficult circumstances.

With everyone who was involved in the process, we completed it as a club collaboratively and effectively.

“We always thought we would get there, but you have to try to plan and then act on something,” the speaker said. We definitely don’t want to stop here.

To get better and keep getting better is the goal.

We will likely realize that there have been many improvements made as a result of mistakes made along the way when we look back in a few years.”.

As a manager, Arteta is excited to make his Champions League debut and has cautioned his players not to take it for granted.

“Looking at the Premier League, and we’ve seen what happened in the last five to ten years, don’t take it for granted,” he advised.

“Really, you have to earn it.

Qualifying for the Champions League in this Premier League is a really big deal.

We earned it last season, and this year we’re going to have to work really, really hard to try to earn it again.”.
