Barcelona has three options if they decide to keep Felix after this season.

At FC Barcelona, Joao Felix has had a successful debut. The Portuguese international was able to make his presence known to the Cules on his very first start for the team, scoring his first goal against Real Betis before adding two more against Royal Antwerp.

Although he has slowed down a bit in the subsequent games, Barcelona is still confident in his talent and wants to make sure the player can stay in Catalonia for a long time.

The Catalans still have almost a full year to develop a plan to keep Felix after his loan period is over while keeping in mind the constrained amount of financial leeway they have.

Atletico is aware of the rising value of Felix.

The Catalans have, however, already begun working on this project, and Felix has publicly stated that he feels at home at his new club and wants to stay in the Catalan club as well.

Atletico Madrid is keeping a close eye on Felix as well, according to Mundo Deportivo, and they are aware of how valuable their loanee is becoming as long as he keeps helping Barcelona score goals.

While Felix will want to stay at Barcelona, he is still owned by the Mattress Makers and will remain so until 2029, as Atletico President Enrique Cerezo recently emphasized.

Atletico wants to limit their losses on the €127 million they spent on the player, so he won’t be sold for a bargain.

Barcelona’s three potential substitutes.

The current loan is very advantageous for Barcelona, but it is only good for this year, and Barcelona and Atletico will need to sit down and negotiate once more in the future.

His worth is estimated by The Mattress Makers to be about €80 million.

Barcelona would not, however, find it simple to spend this sum and would look for another loan, this time paying Felix’s full salary and a €10 million loan fee to Atletico.

An alternative strategy for Barcelona might be to make payments to Atletico Madrid over time in the form of installments, ultimately paying the agreed-upon sum.

In order to avoid the situation dragging into the final hours of the transfer window, which cost the Capital club money during the previous summer transfer window, Atletico Madrid will work to complete this transaction as quickly as possible.
