Man City XI v Young Boys: Expected squad, confirmed squad news and latest Champions League injuries

A transformed Manchester City side could face Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola could rest some of his players ahead of next weekend’s local derby with Manchester United. John Stones, who played 75 minutes on his return from injury and could be rested for the match in Switzerland, is among the 11 players who could be left out of the 11 men who beat Brighton.

City have an almost full squad again, with Kevin De Bruyne the only player confirmed due to injury.

Manuel Akanji is eligible to play despite being sent off against Brighton.
That’s because his one-match ban only applies to the Premier League and the upcoming Manchester derby.

Mateo Kovacic and Rico Luiz are favorites to join the squad, while Ederson should return in goal after last being left on the bench due to fatigue following the international break.

Manchester City XI predicted: Ederson; Luis, Akanji, Diaz, Guardiol; Kovacic, Rhodri; Silva, Alvarez, Grealish; Netherlands

Accident: De Bruyne

Date and time: Wednesday 25 October 2023.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Lionel Messi’s next move, raising the possibility of him returning to Barcelona.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has commented on Lionel Messi’s next move amid rumors of a return to Barcelona.

Messi has joined MLS side Inter Miami for the 22/23 season after his contract with French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain expired.

Now that the season has ended in the United States, there is speculation that Messi could return to his former club Barcelona on loan before the start of the new MLS season.

Now, transfer expert Romano has given an update on Messi’s future on his YouTube channel.

“He will not be loaned to a club. Many hoped Messi would return to Europe before the start of the new MLS season in February, like David Beckham and Thierry Henry.

“I heard that Leo Messi always had one thing in mind: to stay at Inter Miami and not be loaned to Barcelona or any other club.

What happens now?

He will compete for Argentina’s national team in November and rest in December.

Messi is expected to return to training in the first week of January and play against Inter Miami in February.

Romano added: “Remember.

The Ballon d’Or is in Paris in a week and Leo Messi will be there.

“We know the emotions around him and this Ballon d’Or.”

Ahead of the Ballon d’Or later this month, Messi is the eighth favorite to win the award after an incredible year.

The 36-year-old played a key role in leading Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar.

Since Messi joined Inter Miami, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 14 appearances in all competitions.

However, despite the signings of Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, Inter Miami failed to advance to the playoffs.
