Arsenal will now look to Arteta as a star as they look to ‘cleanse’ Manchester City of the title race

Arsenal could be one step closer to beating Manchester City and winning the Premier League title thanks to Mikel Arteta’s contract renewal.

Both City and Arsenal are competing to sign the former West Ham captain, but Mikel Arteta’s improved bid has seen them seal a deal as they lay the foundations for a new midfielder. The Englishman showed off his skills at the Emirates, delighting Arsenal fans in a 3-1 win over Manchester United in September.

Wright-Phillips has scored two goals in nine league games and sees Rice’s goal as a bonus for his outstanding performance in clearing midfield.

Rice is being relied upon as Thomas Partey is battling injuries again this season, but he’s rising to the occasion.

“Declan Rice was a massive signing for me,” Wright-Phillips told Betway.

“If you look at the City team, for example, he will be there, he has added many goals to his game.

I think I was called up last season because I didn’t score enough goals, but I thought, “It doesn’t matter as long as my defensive midfielder just cleans up and scores.” It is “work for its own sake”.
