Arsenal News: Mikel Arteta agrees deal with Arsene Wenger after ‘major injury’

The Arsenal manager was asked about Tottenham’s title qualification and Emile Smith Rowe’s recent injury ahead of a tough trip to Newcastle on Saturday night.

Arsenal suffered their second defeat of the season, losing 3-1 to West Ham in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

It was the Gunners’ worst performance of the season and the perfect build-up to Saturday night’s clash with Newcastle at St James’ Park.

The Rays are top of the table after beating Manchester United at home on Wednesday and will be looking to do the same to Arsenal.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta knows he can forget about returning to London with three points if his players produce a similar level of performance to the one they achieved at the London Stadium in midweek. The Arsenal manager said he had held preliminary talks with Newcastle and said they remain one of the most difficult in the Premier League.

With that in mind, we’re headlining across the emirates on Saturday 4th November.

Arteta admitted that local rivals Tottenham should be seen as title competition this season. Spurs are top of the table, two points ahead of the Gunners.

Asked if Ange Postecoglou’s men would threaten the final trophy, Arteta said: “They are where they are and where they need to be.” A few days ago, club legend Arsene Wenger felt the same way.

“I always like to say what I feel,” Wenger told beIN Sports.

“Honestly, I think Spurs will be one of the contenders in this competition.

“They bought James Maddison, a great player.

He provides technical creativity to the team, acting as a link between the lower midfield and upper midfield. They bought a Van de Ven which I think is very special.

“They had weaknesses and [Hugo] Lloris didn’t have his best season last season. And Son Heung-min’s move to center looks very good.

Arteta has confirmed that Emile Smith Rowe will undergo lengthy treatment after picking up another serious injury ahead of the Newcastle game.

Nothing has changed,” Arteta told reporters.

“Like I said, he will be out for a few weeks.

How much will depend on how he develops, especially in the first few weeks.

It was a huge success because it gained some momentum.”

It was a tough game for the England side, who started their first Premier League game in over a year against Sheffield United last Saturday. Smith Rowe recently spoke about the problems caused by his long absence: “It’s been a difficult time for me because I suffered another setback when I got back on the field after the first operation.

“But this is football.

You have to face these challenges and there are twists and turns. I feel much stronger and better now.” Should be around this last game with this attitude.

Saliba is a “moderate” requirement.

William Saliba has been told by Marcel Desailly that his personal qualities are above average compared to Liverpool centre-back Ibrahim Konate.

“Upamecano and Konate – their partnership is fantastic,” Desailly told Get French Football News.

“I also think their individual level will be higher than what we saw with [Raphael] Varane and [Samuel] Umtiti.

“But before they can express their individuality at a very high level, their union must be right.

And Arsenal have [Saliba].

He still hasn’t had the playing time to adjust to the combination he needs.

“I don’t think his personal qualities are above average.

Very high standard but not exceptional.

Therefore, we need to familiarize ourselves with such associations before entering the international scene.”
