Fourth-round opponents Tottenham will host FA Cup winners Manchester City, and sixth-tier Maidstone will travel to Ipswich, who are vying for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship.
The treble-winning City team led by Pep Guardiola has lost all five of its prior trips to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in all competitions. On Sunday, the team easily defeated Huddersfield 5-0 in the third round.
Since winning the 2008 League Cup, Spurs have not had a trophy since winning the FA Cup in 1991. Pedro Porro’s incredible goal gave Ange Postecoglou’s team a 1-0 victory over Burnley on Friday, sending them to the round of four.
The lowest-ranked team still competing is Maidstone of the Vanarama National League South, who defeated Stevenage 1-0 on Saturday in the third round of the competition.
George Elokobi, the manager of Maidstone, is looking forward to going to Portman Road to take on the Tractor Boys, who are currently ranked second in the Championship table and were the 3-1 third-round winners.
“We think it’s a great draw,” Elokobi stated on Sky Sports News. Geographically speaking, it’s a great spot that our Maidstone United community can get to.
It’s critical that we relish this draw. Ipswich is a terrific draw for us because they are a Premier League team in the making and are dominating the Championship.
“I mentioned that a Championship club would be the next best thing if we weren’t drawn by a Premier League team.
“Selecting Ipswich, who have a strong fan base, will be a fantastic event for our club, our neighborhood, and our owners.
“Our players have an amazing chance to go out, express themselves, and have fun with our fan base on this beautiful day.”
Liverpool, who defeated Arsenal on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, will play Bristol Rovers or Norwich at home.
After securing a replay against League Two Newport, National League Eastleigh was also included in the drawing.
The victor of that match will play host to Manchester United, while Wrexham, of League Two, will travel to Blackburn, of the Championship.
There are going to be more Premier League matches between Chelsea and Aston Villa at home, Sheffield United and Brighton, and Fulham and Newcastle.
Swansea will visit Bournemouth, and either Luton or Bolton will host the winner of Crystal Palace vs Everton.
If West Ham and Nottingham Forest win their respective replays against Bristol City and Blackpool, they may also play each other in the fourth round.
West Brom will host Brentford or Wolves, while Championship leaders Leicester will host one of Hull or Birmingham.
All-Championship matches will take place between Watford and Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry, and Leeds versus Plymouth at home.
The ties for the fourth round will happen over the course of the weekend of January 26–29.
