Kendrick Lamar Announced as Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Performer
Grammy Award-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar is set to take the stage as the headliner for the highly anticipated Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. The event will be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025, and will be broadcast on FOX.
Lamar shared the exciting news with his fans on Sunday morning through a post on social media. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why,” Lamar stated confidently. “They got the right one.”
The NFL’s head of music, Seth Dudowsky, echoed this sentiment, praising Lamar’s immense influence on the music world. “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar. Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop,” Dudowsky said. “We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show.”
Lamar’s track record speaks for itself. With 17 Grammy Awards to his name, he has also made history as the first non-classical, non-jazz artist to win a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album DAMN. His talent continues to dominate the charts—Lamar’s collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin, “Like That,” spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024, and his track “Not Like Us” also topped the charts for two weeks this past summer.
This upcoming performance marks Lamar’s second time gracing the Super Bowl stage. He previously performed at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show in 2022, where he shared the spotlight with legends such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
With a reputation for delivering powerful performances and pushing the boundaries of hip-hop, Lamar’s return to the Super Bowl Halftime Show is sure to be one of the most talked-about moments of 2025. Fans and critics alike are eagerly anticipating what the Compton native has in store for this iconic stage.
