In an exciting turn of events, the Texas Longhorns wrapped up the 2024 season with a top-five finish in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2008-09 seasons. With an impressive 13-3 record, including a trip to the SEC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff semifinals, Texas made waves across college football.
Ranked No. 3 in the Coaches Poll, the Longhorns were only behind national champion Ohio State and national runner-up Notre Dame. However, in the AP Poll, they sat just behind Oregon, who was eliminated by Ohio State in the quarterfinals.
Arizona State, Texas’ opponent in the Peach Bowl, finished the season at No. 7 in both polls, while Clemson, who faced Texas in the first round of the playoffs, ended at No. 11 in the Coaches Poll and No. 14 in the AP rankings.
Texas ended the 2024 campaign with notable wins, including victories over two ranked teams and two other teams that received votes in the final AP Poll: the Florida Gators and the Texas A&M Aggies.
