Live from UT Austin: Bevo XV Turns 10 in Style
The University of Texas at Austin campus was buzzing with excitement as students and fans gathered to celebrate a special occasion: the 10th birthday of the iconic Bevo XV, the beloved mascot of the Texas Longhorns.
A Birthday Bash to Remember
The atmosphere was filled with joy as Bevo XV stood proudly at the center of the celebration, his massive horns and spotted hide drawing admiration from the crowd. Fans lined up for selfies, shared smiles, and sang in honor of their cherished mascot.
“Singing, smiles, and selfies are all part of the celebration for Bevo XV’s 10th birthday,” one student shared.

Attendee Christine Conrad described the excitement:
“It’s been awesome—so exciting and fun. I couldn’t wait to come see him. It’s a great idea to have him represent the school and give everyone a chance to see such a beautiful animal and a great mascot.”
Another fan, Aidan Guerra, added:
“I took a picture with him—like a full-face picture. He’s way bigger than I thought! He looks smaller on TV, but seeing him up close is incredible.”
The Legacy of Bevo XV
Bevo XV has been the face of the Longhorns since 2016, following the passing of the previous mascot, who died at age 13 after being diagnosed with Bovine Leukemia. Bevo XV has carried on the proud tradition of live mascots, a legacy that began with the first Bevo’s debut in 1916.
“I’ve been a fan since I was 10. This was my dream school,” Guerra shared, emphasizing the connection fans feel with the mascot.
Fans were given nearly an hour to take photos with Bevo, who the university proudly calls the “most famous mascot and the pride of the Texas Longhorns.”
Christine Conrad summed it up perfectly:
“He’s an awesome mascot. He’s beautiful.”
A Symbol of Tradition and Pride
The birthday bash not only celebrated Bevo XV’s milestone but also highlighted the enduring tradition of the Longhorns’ live mascot. Bevo remains a symbol of pride and unity for the UT Austin community, drawing fans from all over to witness his grandeur.
As the party wrapped up, one thing was clear: Bevo XV is not just a mascot; he’s an icon, embodying the spirit and pride of the Texas Longhorns.
